Seminary Classes this Summer

The Point Leadership Centre. Interested in doing Seminary classes? This summer The Point will offer two classes through The Point’s Leadership Centre!

The courses will run on Tuesday nights 7-9pm at AQ3200 SFU Burnaby. The cost for the course, some material, coffee & snacks is $25/course. The price has been reduced so to allow access to as many people as possible. We believe in helping people grow in spiritual maturity and so have tried to remove the cost barrier for you to do seminary level courses. If the $25 is still a barrier to you let us know and we will arrange a scholarship. Registration is limited and can be done below.

June 5- July 3: “Old Testament Survey”

A total of eights sessions (four in class room session & four at home session), overview of the development and content of the Old Testament. This introductory course will expose students to the different types of literature in the Old Testament and how it applies to the New Testament as well as their daily lives. A brief overview of the history and geography of the Old Testament world is included. Basic Material will be provided. The sessions will contain video teaching and in class discussion along with with class assignment & a final exam. The teaching component will be done by Kevin Peacock Lead360 Lecturer and is a professor at the Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary in Cochrane, AB.

July 10 – Aug 4: “Spiritual Disciplines”

This course is an overview of the basic spiritual disciplines of the Christian life. The course will look at “The Place of Spiritual Disciplines in Transformation”, “Silence and Solitude”, “Service”, “Bible Study”, “Witness”, “Prayer”, “Submission & Sabbath” and pull it all together. These foundations are important to any Christians life and for critical for those considering ministry. Basic Material will be provided. The sessions will contain video teaching and in class discussion along with with class assignment & a final exam. The teaching component will be done by Georges Boujakly (an Lead 360 Lecturer and the Director of Ethnic Church Starting for Kansas/Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists) and Hamish Buntain (serves as an Lead 360 Lecturer and Consultant for Church Strengthening & Leadership Development for the Canadian National Baptist Convention).
