It may seem far away, but Christmas is just around the corner and at The Point, it means it’s time to start packing shoeboxes! For the sixth consecutive year, we will be taking part in Operation Christmas Child, as well as running the MetroBox project.
The project is a humanitarian endeavor in which members of the community, including kids, pack shoe boxes with toys, school and hygiene items that are then shipped to developing nations. (Ideas on what to pack)
For a sixth year, we additionally want to give our community the option of packing a ”MetroBox“ for underprivileged children in Metro Vancouver. These are packed the same way as the international boxes but will be distributed locally through Mosaic. Our local partner agency have expressed this year there is a special need for more METROBox‘s with all the refugees expected.
Come by The Point Gatherings or the Interfaith Centre AQ3200, SFU, Pick up a Box (+ a few for friends) and get packing! We’re hoping to pack lots of boxes, so make sure your friends come grab a box too!
Return your boxes to a Point Gathering or Lifegroup, or drop them off at the Interfaith Centre by Nov 29 for OCC & Dec 7th for MetroBoxes or at The High Street Christmas Lights event so we can get them to kids around the world in time for Christmas!
Thanks everyone for helping make this a great Christmas for many!Tags: give, Metrobox, OCC, Operation Christmas Child, refugee, refugees
